Presidents Message - Spring 2003Dear Members, It has been a long time since our last newsletter and I sincerely apologize for the lapse in getting it out in a timely manner. The San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation enjoyed a successful 2005 and I want to share some of our accomplishments and goals for 2006. To begin, I refer you to the complete listing of the current Directors and Officers. Effective March 1, 2006 we will be electing new Officers to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Skip Murphy will remain as our Executive Director. We have three positions open on the Board of Directors. Anyone interested in becoming Board Member should refer to this article for more details. We want to express our deepest appreciation to retiring Board Members Donald Walker Ph.D. and John Doren. Both spent several years on the Board. Their wit, knowledge, hard work and dedication will be greatly missed! In 2005 (for the first time in our history) the SDCLEF awarded five Continuing Education Scholarships to local law enforcement personnel. In addition we approved over $30,000 in Equipment Grants to local law enforcement agencies. This was all made possible by your general membership dues and funds raised at our Annual Scholarship Dinner/Dance. We want to thank all of our general members for your continued support, you are the heart and soul of our organization. We also want to thank all of the individuals for their financial support throughout 2005. Our goal is to award 5 scholarships again in 2006 and to increase our grants by 10%. BETTER TRAINED and BETTER EQUIPPED law enforcement officers means one thing: BETTER PROTECTION for all San Diego County Residents. The SDCLEF Board is dedicated to continuing our support of local enforcement and we are asking for our general membership to become more involved. You can accomplish this by telling us what you would like to see happen in 2006. We have listed Board Member contact information so you can let us know what type of activities, events, or information would be of interest to you. We will also need volounteers for some of the functions, so if you have any spare time please contact us. In closing, it has been an honor to server as SDCLEF president for the past years and I want to thank the Board Members, General Members, Volounteers, My Family and Friends for their support. I can only hope that the incoming President will be as fortunate as I was and ask that everyone keep up their support and involvement. Sincerely, |
