Message from 2018 SDCLEF President Roy Cosan

Dear SDCLEF Members

I am writing to introduce myself as the new President of the SDCLEF. Roy Cosan, I have lived in the community for the past 20 years. I have been a member for a few years and I have been on the SDCLEF Board for the last 5 years.

I was drawn to the SDCLEF based on the mission to support Law Enforcement in San Diego County. We all know that the Law Enforcement Men and Women go to work each day to serve the community and protect us all from those that would do us harm. No matter what the situation they put the community ahead of themselves and their own families to serve and protect no matter what the disaster. Law Enforcement is under significant pressure from some in the media and your membership is a vote of support for local law enforcement.

You all know that the SCLEF is strictly a volunteer, 501c nonprofit. Our membership fees and fund raising efforts go to support the San Diego County Law Enforcement community in the form of equipment grants, Scholarships for officers graduate education and Financial Support for the families of fallen officers in the line of duty.

I was personally drawn to this organization because of the type of support the SDCLEF provides and the commitment of the people I have met in this organization and in law enforcement.

Thank you all for your membership and support. I will do my best to serve you in the execution of our shared mission and the local law enforcement community.

Respectfully,
Roy Cosan

Message to all members of the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation

With deep sorrow, but great pride, we wish to inform our members that a donation of $2,000 was made to the family of slain Officer Jonathan DeGuzman. The Board of the SDCLEF thanks all of the members for the support of the Foundation and the courageous Men and Women of Law Enforcement who risk their lives every day to protect the citizens of San Diego County.

San Diego Golf Classic

The SDCLEF held its third annual Golf Classic on Friday May 20, 2016 at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley. It was another fun and successful fundraiser.

Tour of the San Diego Regional Police Academy

Once again, the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation hosted a tour of the San Diego Regional Police Academy on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

Members and guests were allowed to engage in police training exercises and examine sophisticated law enforcement equipment. Participation included an interactive video shoot / no shoot exercise, using the driving simulator, shooting some pepper balls and bean bags following a Less Lethal Weapons demonstration, and for some brave volunteers, testing the Taser. The K-9 and SWAT teams also provided informative demonstrations.

San Diego Central Jail Tour

On September 18th, 2013, the SDCLEF hosted a tour of the San Diego Central Jail facility. The group was welcomed by Sheriff Bill Gore and treated to a delicious dinner in the Officers' Dining Room. For dessert the kitchen staff prepared a cake decorated with the SDCLEF logo. The tour included Intake, Processing, Medical and a Housing Unit visit.

This was one of several special events that the Foundation sponsors throughout the year.

SDCLEF - Raising Money For Good Causes

Providing protection and safety for our families against violence, crime and law breaking citizens is the responsibility of our sheriffs and police officers. Sometimes their ability to do their job efficiently is hindered by lack of proper equipment or training within their department, which is usually the result of budgetary constraints.

The San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation has funded many different programs and underwritten the cost of new equipment for San Diego County Police and Sheriff's Departments so that these public servants can perform their jobs safely and efficiently. Please see our Scholarships/Grants section for more information.
