2015 San Diego Golf Classic

The SDCLEF held its second annual Golf Classic on Friday April 17, 2015 at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley.

Tour of the San Diego Regional Police Academy

Once again, the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation hosted a tour of the San Diego Regional Police Academy on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

Members and guests were allowed to engage in police training exercises and examine sophisticated law enforcement equipment. Participation included an interactive video shoot / no shoot exercise, using the driving simulator, shooting some pepper balls and bean bags following a Less Lethal Weapons demonstration, and for some brave volunteers, testing the Taser. The K-9 and SWAT teams also provided informative demonstrations.

San Diego Golf Classic

The SDCLEF held its first annual Golf Classic on April 4, 2014 at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley. The 148 golfers enjoyed a great day. After lunch provided by Phil's BBQ, the golfers teed off. The tournament ended with a delicious dinner, provided by Riverwalk.

It was a fun-filled event where local businesses and residents of San Diego and its surrounding communities joined to contribute and celebrate the growth and achievements of our Mission: "providing financial support to San Diego County Sheriff and Police Departments."

Plan to join us next year for an even more successful tournament.

San Diego Central Jail Tour

On September 18th, 2013, the SDCLEF hosted a tour of the San Diego Central Jail facility. The group was welcomed by Sheriff Bill Gore and treated to a delicious dinner in the Officers' Dining Room. For dessert the kitchen staff prepared a cake decorated with the SDCLEF logo. The tour included Intake, Processing, Medical and a Housing Unit visit.

This was one of several special events that the Foundation sponsors throughout the year.

Tour of the Sheriff's Crime Lab

The tour was conducted by Steve Guroff, the Supervising Criminalist. The event included visits to the Fingerprint Section, Physical Evidence, Narcotics, the DNA Lab and Firearms Department.

At the conclusion, participants and members of the Lab were treated to pizza an soft drinks.

2011 FALL EVENT

Our annual Fall Event is the Foundation's primary fund-raising event. Each year we gather for dinner with our friends, supporters, and members of the law enforcement community to celebrate our successes and raise money for the County's law enforcement agencies. From the spirited bidding at our cocktail auction, to the live music and dancing that lasts late into the night, the Fall Event proves every year that raising money for a good cause can be both entertaining and rewarding. Please plan to join us on September 24, 2011.

Tour of the Sheriff's Emergency Services Division

On June 14, 2011, members and guests of the Foundation were given a tour of the San Diego Sheriff's Emergency Services Division. This event was was held at Gillespie Field and hosted by Captain Todd Frank, commander of the division. The tour included SWAT, ASTREA (Helicopter unit), Bomb and Arson, Search, and Rescue, and the Emergency Planning Detail. It was a very informative and interesting evening.

Here are some photos of the event:

2009 FALL EVENT

The 2009 dinner honored SDCLEF's first ever Citizen of the Year, Mary Walsh of the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Mary has been the Sheriff's "right-hand" woman as long as most of us can remember, and she has worked tirelessly for both the Foundation and the County law enforcement community in general. In addition to honoring Mary, we also celebrated the end of an era, as Sheriff Bill Kolender and Chief Rick Emerson ended their long and storied careers with their respective departments. Both the Sheriff and Chief Emerson have been longtime supporters of SDCLEF, and they will be sorely missed. Thanks for joining us to thank Mary for her years and years of dedicated service to the County's law enforcement community, and to send the Sheriff and Chief Emerson off with a bang. Thanks for joining us on September 12, 2009 for a night of great auction items, a wonderful dinner, and dancing to the music of the world-famous Cat-illacs.

Thank You: We are proud to recognize the following sponsors and donors from the 2009 Event. The SDCLEF thanks them for their generosity. Please support them.

On July 15, 2010, the Foundation arranged for a tour of the new, multi-million dollar San Diego County Medical Examiner Facility located at 5570 Overland Avenue.

The tour was conducted by the Medical Examiner, Dr. Glenn Wagner, and covered all aspects of the state-of-the-art building. Dr. Wagner's presentation was very interesting and enlightening.

Tour of the Harbor Police Facility on July 16, 2009

On July 16, 2009, members of the SDCLEF and their guests were given an excellent tour of the San Diego Harbor Police facility. The tour was arranged by Chief Kirk Sanfilippo and conducted by Captain Don Claypool.

The event began with a tour of the headquarters building and a brief overview of the department by a representative of the Port Commission. The department has 172 employees with 145 sworn officers, and an annual budget of $29.3 million dollars. The function of the department is to provide policing, marine firefighting and rescue, and airport security.

Following the introduction we boarded a bus and were transported to the boat facility on Shelter Island. There we watched a demonstration by a K-9 unit and were shown the various boats utilized by the Harbor Police. The tour was extremely informative; everyone in attendance thought the event was very worthwhile.

Tour of the San Diego Jail on April 10, 2008

An interesting behind-the-scenes tour of the downtown jail. We saw all phases of the booking process, short-term and longer-term holding areas, emergency response team, and had dinner in the officer's mess.

The K-9 and SWAT teams also provided excellent demonstrations. We finished with refreshments and pizza. It was a great time!

Tour of the Medical Examiner's Office on September 13, 2006.

We hope to repeat this tour in the Spring of 2010.
